Both types are relatively inexpensive and so it may be wise to buy a scientific calculator on the assumption that it will be suitable for the five compulsory years of secondary school.<\/p>\n<p>A more advanced type of calculator (the graphic calculator) is now widely available and may be used in some GCSE examinations. At present these calculators are relatively expensive and it is unlikely that we will recommend their purchase to pupils other than those studying Advanced Level mathematics, at least in the foreseeable future. The school holds its own stock of such calculators for use in lessons.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_2 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span>We do not expect you to buy exercise books or text books. These are provided by the school.
